Peptides
Peptides are relatively short sequences of amino acids, generally shorter than 100 units in length. Since they are readily available from many protein sources, their purification, characterization and structural analysis are the focus of considerable research attention.
.
Purification of peptides is challenging and requires well-defined purification protocols. The difficulty arises in the fact that the peptide of interest in synthetic reaction mixtures or from natural sources may be one of a number of closely related peptides in a heterogeneous population.
